How Wise Horoscope works

Wise Horoscope is a set of free calculators for the Chinese Five Elements (Wuxing 五行) and Four Pillars (BaZi 八字) system. Everything on this site is computed, not copied: your date is converted with the standard sexagenary (ganzhi) calendar, and every table on the birthday pages is generated from the same algorithm.

Method

The year pillar changes at the exact moment of Lichun (立春, around 4 February), not on 1 January. The month pillar changes at the exact moment of each of the twelve jie solar terms; we use precomputed term times for 1900–2100 from the open-source lunar library by 6tail (MIT licence), compared against your birth time in your device's time zone. The day pillar follows the continuous 60-day ganzhi cycle; we checked it against lunar-python for every day from 1950 to 2026 (28,124 days, no differences). The hour pillar follows the Five Rats rule; a birth between 23:00 and 23:59 keeps that day's day pillar and takes the next day's Zi-hour stem. The simple element count uses the eight visible characters (six when birth time is unknown). The weighted Element strength section adds hidden stems (60/30/10), counts the month branch double, and calls the Day Master weak below 42% support and strong above 52%; those cut-offs split our test sample of 20,000 charts roughly 40/20/40. We do not adjust for true solar time or for a birthplace in a different time zone from your device.

What this is and is not

The Five Elements system is a classical framework for classification and reflection, and a living part of Chinese culture. We present its readings for interest and cultural exploration. We make no claim that birth dates predict events, and nothing here is medical, financial or life advice.
